My Cake Decorating Journey

I would first like to point out, I know nothing about blogging. So if I do something totally off the wall you can blame it on that. Truthfully, if you know me you'll blame it on my personality, but I'd rather chalk it up to ignorance.

I decided a couple of months ago to take a cake decorating class. One of the Wilton ones offered at many different craft stores. I took Course 1 and surprised myself at how well I did. I say "surprised myself" because I don't think of myself as a very "craft-y" person. So this blog will be about the cakes I've made and will be making on my learning experience journey.

This is pretty much what my cake decorating skills were up to when I decided to take this class.

This is the first cake I made for my class. As you can see it, a vast improvement.

My next project involved clowns. My son, Ian, wanted them to be orange.

My next project was roses.

I made these clowns for Ian's preschool class.

Ian's 5th birthday cake. (Note: Black frosting = purple mouths!)

Fondant is fun too.

In my most recent class we learned about royal icing flowers and tiered cakes. I enjoyed making all these morning glories.

So that's what I've done so far. Be on the lookout for more.

It is really interesting to see your progression with each cake. You are a fast learner! I wish I made that much progress that quickly spiritually! Thanks for giving us your blog address.
