Dress Up

So yesterday Mikayla (I'm sure I spelled that wrong), and Lydia came over to play with Ian. Ian has a drawer full of dress up clothes, old Halloween costumes and stuff Gramma and Papa have sent or bought him. So the kids decided to dress up. Ian was a Power Ranger, he doesn't know what a Power Ranger is but he loves the costume. Mikayla was a dragon in a costume about three sizes too small for her and Lydia was Superman... er... SuperGIRL.

I thought they were all perfectly adorable, and they all played quite nicely together.

When it was time to go home Lydia had to look for the hat she brought over and when she put it on I had to take another picture.

I thought that was the end of dress-up for the day, but after dinner when we told Ian to change his clothes because we were going to meeting he came out dressed like this:

He loves cowboy clothes because he can wear them out of the house and he still feels like he's playing dress-up.
Aren't kid's imaginations wonderful?

Hailstorm

So on Tuesday July 22, we had a hailstorm that pretty much devastated our garden. I would have mentioned the whole thing sooner, but it took me this long to get the pictures downloaded.
I was actually driving home when it hit. It was hailing so hard I couldn't see the houses on the side of the road, all I could see were the tail lights of the car in front of me.

I took some of these pictures when I got home, and Brian took the rest.

This is what our deck looked like.

Our strawberries are gone!

These used to be beautiful flowers, geraniums and such.

Our Sunflowers, tomatoes and potatoes were flattened.

The leaves and vines to our giant pumpkin plant (Yes, that was all one plant.) were shredded.
They even have divots in them because the hail was coming down so hard.

The one remaining light in our front yard got flattened too!

On the up side, the cars windshield did not break as I was driving (and fervently praying it would remain intact). Our basement did not flood. Our fence remained standing, and, with the exception of a few plants, we sustained no bodily harm or loss of life. So I'd say we did okay.

NEW New Look

Okay, I figured out how to put one of my backgrounds on my blog, (Thanks Wrena!) but for some unknown reason it won't go wide enough. I'll have to work on that.

(Note: 2 hours later and wayyy past bedtime....)
I figured it out! It only took me two hours, but I managed! Now my background goes all the way across! Yeah!

New Look... New Idea

I changed my look! I got the background from a website that offers free ones for blogs. and I made a new banner. I like the effect.
I decided maybe too I would change the content a little. I'll still blog about my cakes and stuff, but maybe I'll add a bit about what's going on in my life and my thoughts on that too. Not that I'm very interesting, and it's not like anyone reads it anyway, but it will give me a place to natter a bit.

Class reschedule.

Okay, so I'm supposed to start class on July 11th. This will be a fondant and gumpaste class. I have no idea what gumpaste is but I guess that is why I should take the class. I am very excited, and if they cancel this one I shall personally scream, holler, and throw a conniption. (I know conniption is spelled right because I have spell check. Great invention.)
